The Reading

The opposite of terrorism is not calm or even security.

No, the opposite of terrorism is courage.

Courage to move forward in spite of fear.

Courage to create relationships in spite of barriers.

Courage to stand up for what is good, right and beautiful even when the clamour is to denounce, hate and tear down.

Jesus courageously met neighbours who others called unclean. Leader: Jesus courageously healed those who were social rejects. People: Jesus courageously taught things that were unpopular.

Help us to be courageous like Jesus.

Help us to trust that the Spirit of Jesus is with us, People: Even though the mountains shake,

Even though the waters roar and foam,

Even though people wish to harm us.

Help us to cultivate courage in the name of Christ. Help us to be still and know that you are God.
